Ich bin hier!

International travel is easy pease! Jk. But I made it! Met up with two other kids from UW's program and we flew from Chicago to London, short layover, London to Düsseldorf, then trained to Köln. Our hostel is amazing! I think it's part converted church or something, but it's modern and nice and clean, and that's what counts. We arrived around 2 pm Germany time, met up with basically the entire UW-Madison group, and explored Köln some. Even though I've seen the cathedral twice before, it's still stunningly breath taking. If I have time, I'll try to upload my camera onto my computer later today/tomorrow so y'all can see! It's legal to walk around with an open container, so we all went to a grocery store and bought tiny bottles of wine. Sorry (not sorry) mom and dad haha.

All in all, I stayed up pretty late. With the time zone difference and hours of plane riding, even though I went to bed at 9 pm, I had been up for 30 hours straight. wooooo!

Today I went to the Ludwig Museum. It's only 20th century art and later. The most amazing pop art, surrealism, and modern art I've ever seen! (I've never been to MOMA). I spent 2 and a half hours there, watching crazy experimental films with Paul Giammotti whistling and drooling over how awesome Roy Lichtenstein's art is. It was great just walking around the city by myself. I love exploring and have no problem not having a group or anything. I'm sure I'm going to say this about everywhere, but Köln is a beautiful city. I walked across the bridge over the Rhein and there's tens of thousands locks attached to the metal walkway, each with a couples' name on them! I guess tradition is to throw the key into the river. Cute.

Becca and I quick trained to Bonn to drop off our blister causing over 9000 pound suit case beasts, so I'm suuuper glad I don't have to lug that thing around anymore! For the next 9 days, I only have to deal with my littler suitcase.

Tomorrow I'm taking a train to Edinburgh (which the English girl in my hostel told me I've been pronouncing dreadfully wrong for forever) so I get to see Bess! Very excited :]

Tschüss!
